Cardiology
At Private Health Dallas, your health is our highest priority. We know that heart health is the key to living a long and healthy life. We perform testing with state-of-the-art technology which helps determine the overall health of your heart and cardiovascular system to formulate a unique and personalized plan of action.
We offer various tests to assess your cardiovascular health, including:
Electrocardiogram
An electrocardiogram is a quick and painless test that typically takes ten minutes. Electrodes are attached to your arms, legs, and chest. During the test, you’ll lie still while the electrical activity of your heart is recorded and placed on a graph. Every heartbeat is activated by an electrical signal that begins at the top of your heart and makes its way to the bottom. Heart problems can disrupt the electrical activity of your heart, alerting your doctor to potential heart problems.
Exercise Electrocardiogram
An exercise electrocardiogram, also known as a treadmill stress test, is an electrocardiogram performed while the patient is exercising. An exercise electrocardiogram, e.g. the Bruce Protocol stress test, is a maximal exercise test where the test subject works to complete exhaustion as the treadmill speed and incline is increased every three minutes. The length of time on the treadmill is the test score which is used to estimate the VO2 max. The stress test records your heart’s response to the physical stress of exercise including your heart’s electrical activity, blood pressure, and heart rate. The stress test can help identify underlying abnormal heart rhythms, prior injuries to the heart muscle, coronary artery disease, and level of cardiovascular fitness.
Based upon your history and risk factors, Dr. Elovitz might schedule you for further cardiac testing such as an echocardiogram, exercise echocardiogram, nuclear stress test, CT coronary angiogram or cardiology consultation.
